Florence is the largest city and county seat of Florence County. Located in the northeastern quadrant of South Carolina, in the coastal plain region, Florence county is bordered on the east by the Great Pee Dee River and is about 50 miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean. Interstates 95 and 20 run directly into the city of Florence.

Florence's excellent transportation system, including direct access to deep water seaports, make the area a center for global commerce and trade.

Florence offers one of the best business climates in the Southeast. In the last five years, new and expanding businesses have invested more than 1.1. billion dollars in the county.
